Custom AI systems · New York

The simplest system that does the job.

We build custom AI systems for small and mid-sized businesses. They take over the repetitive work your team does by hand, from finding new leads to following up on referrals.

Entities should not be multiplied beyond necessity. Occam's razor, after William of Ockham. We build the same way: no more moving parts than the problem needs.

What we’ve built, and what we can build

Real estate brokerage

Property discovery and owner outreach

The brokerage spent hours finding properties that fit its criteria and tracking down who owned them. We built a pipeline that does the search, identifies the owner, and starts the conversation automatically.

  1. Set the criteriaMarkets, unit counts, price range, and property type
  2. Find propertiesSearches public records, listing sites, and other sources for matching buildings
  3. Find the ownerIdentifies the owner, the company behind the property, and the decision-maker's contact details
  4. Rank and organizeScores each property against the criteria and keeps everything in one database, with no duplicates
  5. Reach out and follow upPersonalized emails sent on a schedule, with follow-ups that stop when an owner replies or opts out
  6. Hand off the repliesInterested owners go straight to the brokers, with regular reports on results

Healthcare provider

Referral outreach

Referrals come from other institutions, and finding them took staff time the provider didn't have. We built a system that identifies the organizations most likely to refer patients and reaches out to them directly.

  1. Define the targetsHospitals, behavioral health providers, schools, and social service organizations in the provider's area
  2. Find institutionsCompiles them from public directories, search engines, and organization websites
  3. Find the right peopleSocial workers, discharge planners, counselors, and case managers, with business emails
  4. Rank and organizePrioritizes by location and likelihood of referring, and tracks every contact in one database
  5. Reach out and follow upPersonalized introductions sent on a schedule, with follow-ups that stop when someone replies or opts out
  6. Hand off the repliesInterested contacts go straight to the provider's team, with regular reports on results

Example · Medical billing company

AI agents for the billing cycle

A billing company's staff spends most of the day moving claims through the same cycle: check coverage, code the visit, submit the claim, post the payment, appeal denials, and chase unpaid balances. Here is how we would break that work into AI agents, each handling one stage, with a person approving anything that matters. The agents work alongside the company's existing billing software and run with HIPAA safeguards under a signed Business Associate Agreement.

  1. Eligibility agentChecks each patient's insurance coverage before the visit and flags problems early
  2. Coding review agentReads the visit notes, checks the billing codes, and flags mismatches for a human coder to approve
  3. Claim check agentReviews each claim against the insurer's rules before submission, catching errors that cause denials
  4. Payment posting agentReads insurer payment statements, records the payments, and flags underpayments
  5. Denial agentSorts denied claims by reason, drafts the appeal, and sends it to staff to review
  6. Follow-up agentTracks unpaid claims, checks their status, and queues the next follow-up so nothing ages out

What we build

Three kinds of work we take off your plate

Outreach

Lead generation and outreach pipelines

Systems that find the right prospects, identify the right person to contact, and handle first-touch outreach for you.

Automation

Workflow automation

Intake, follow-up, scheduling, and paperwork that currently live in someone's inbox, handled the moment they arrive.

Replacement

Tools that replace manual or costly processes

Custom tools that do the job of an expensive subscription or a spreadsheet someone updates by hand.

Who we work with

Built for businesses where follow-up decides the outcome

Real estate

Property discovery, owner identification, and outreach to sellers and landlords.

Nursing homes and assisted living

Fast responses to hospital referrals, including nights and weekends.

Home health and home care

Referral intake from discharge planners, scheduling, and the paperwork that follows.

Medical practices

Appointment reminders, intake forms, and referral tracking that lighten the front desk.

How we work

From a short call to a running system

  1. A 15-minute call

You tell us where your team's time goes. We tell you plainly whether a system can take it over.

  2. We build it for you

A system designed around your business and your tools, not a template.

  3. We run and refine it

We keep it working and adjust it as you see results and your needs change.

About us

AI for the businesses that can't build it themselves

Everyone keeps saying AI is going to change every industry. Most small and mid-sized businesses don't have the time, the staff, or the technical background to make that happen on their own.

We started Occam AI to close that gap. Joseph, a law student, and Mayer, a computer scientist who has worked in the field for years, combined their backgrounds to bring that work to the companies that need it most.

We named the company after Occam's razor, the principle that the simplest solution is usually the best one. For every client, we look for the easiest, simplest fix to the problem in front of them, and that's what we build.

Joseph Faraday

Co-Founder & CEO

Joseph is a law student at Georgetown University Law Center. Before law school he worked at Sapia AI, a company that uses AI in hiring and candidate communication, and as a paralegal. At Occam he works directly with clients to understand where their team's time goes and makes sure every system solves the problem it was built for.

Mayer Adelman

Co-Founder & CTO

Mayer is a computer scientist with more than five years of experience designing and building AI systems. He leads the technical side of every Occam project, from the first design to the finished system running in your business.
